About The Hope Project
Working to provide a brighter future in Penzance and surrounding areas
The Hope Project is a non-profit making initiative that has been running under the umbrella of Shekinah Christian Church in Penzance since 2003. The project has been able to help many people with new cookers, washing machines, fridges, carpets, curtains, beds, sofas and dining room furniture. We have also on occasion, been able to paint and decorate for clients. We work alongside existing service providers such as the YMCA, Women’s Aid, Cornwall Council, Social Services, the Food Bank and Citizens Advice. This helps identify people in real need in our community. The Hope Project has been a valuable tool God has given us to express His generosity, love and kindness into a community where some are struggling with poverty and hopelessness.
The Hope Project relies solely on donations, and would be very grateful if you would consider partnering with us as we seek to continue to serve the most needy in our community. If you feel that you are able to donate in any way, would like additional literature or would like members of the Hope Project Team to conduct a short presentation near you then we would love to hear from you.
has been spent on items for individuals and families in this community since 2003 by the Project…
The Hope Project works with existing service providers, agencies, food bank and the local Church network to identify and reach those people in real need in our area. Families and individuals on low incomes or benefits are those who The Hope Project is particularly keen to help.
The Hope Project
The majority of our referrals are for individuals who have come from sheltered or temporary housing, living with or recovering from financial difficulties, or generally struggling with low or loss of income due to sickness or lack of employment opportunity.
Our goal is to show Gods love by blessing people with a new household item that they may not be able to afford or in some other way to help furnish their home.
Hope Outside
Although this is not currently available due to reduced man-power, Hope has previously helped people in the local community by tidying and clearing gardens, that have for whatever reason become unmanageable. Teams of volunteers have helped several people to reclaim their gardens and return them to a state that can be maintained. This is just another way that the Hope Project has enjoyed giving something back.
Budgeting courses
The Hope Project has three trained money coaches available to deliver the ‘Christians Against Poverty‘ budgeting course. Christians Against Poverty is a national, award-winning initiative, the courses are designed to help people take control of their finances, and then stay in control. Courses are run depending on demand and are normally made up of three, DVD based, group sessions aimed at providing practical help with money management.
